Yes - a good portion has to be removed from the center and it will require welding in reinforcements.

Around 9.20 I believe but we usually just say anything over 9mm

Thank you! Stock transmission and CD009 with OEM bellhousing does not fit unfortunately. R154/AR5 are good semi budget options

There is a little bit difference in idle sound between 264 and 276. 264 cam sound is almost smooth that I don't like. I also use 264 degree cam in my old 1995 1.6 single point injection N/A Vw Polo. I am planning to change my cam with bigger one for lumpy cam sound.

I have the 276 on a non VVTI 2jz and they do not lope like this. They lope like the 264's for some reason. I asked the tuner to make them a lopey so he dropped the idle down to 800 and it did achieve the sound somewhat but it would die all the time, had no choice but to turn it back up to 1100. Were you able to achieve the lope while not dying out at idle?
Yea that's the thing I've noticed too.. they seem to vary by what brand you go with! I heard some what mild sounding 282s yesterday. And heard pretty dumb lopey 264s too! 🤷♂️ So I don't know what's going on. I guess folks just have to do their homework and pay attention when they order
@@ADTJosh After talking to some people, I think it's how well they are degreed when installing. Supposedly, the better degreed, the less lope. I'm no expert on cam installs, however. I think engine compression and a stock short block vs built may make a difference as well.
@@SneakerDrawings Overlap and lope separation angle plays big role with the idle quality and lope sound. Tight LSA will definitely get you there. Easiest way is to have a vvti engine and try advancing idle cam at idle. Intake centerline to somewhere between 100-110 is guaranteed to make carrot chop idle. I had 272 BC vvti cams and could make them idle almost like stock, or really lopey if wanted to.
How much hp, boost, and what fuel?
*So the 264 is the first startup, and the second is 276? Correct? If so just from listening the 264 sounds more pristine and factory. The 276 sounds like it's struggling, extra choppy*

Would you say that by swapping the engine that maintenance is easier compared to the normal vg30, is the engine bay still cramped, can you conduct small repairs without dismantling the whole thing.
Yes maintenance is much easier and less prone to failures, but it can be a bit tight up front and in the bellhousing area depending on the setup you choose.

Just want information on just strictly using an A/T setup, handicap now can’t physically drive stick anymore. Was going to just swap my VG30DE for a 2JZGTE that already have the A/T with it. The only information I’ve found mainly consists of using an M/T which is more common vs the A/T.
Do you have any videos showing how the intercooling piping is ran. Look like space is limited coming from the intake manifold.

whats the shimming process ? shim under buckets from a 1nz ? or stock shim over bucket design?
Possibly OEM shimless buckets. Steel, with a coating to prevent wear.
Shims are a pain in the butt, unless they're over the bucket - which are obviously prone to fling out at the high RPM these cams are designed to operate. Use shimless. The MR2 buckets are a direct replacement. Measure for required thickness and order them up from Toyota. Better if the shop that does your valvejob also tips all the valve stems so they all require the same bucket thickness.

I think it’s 15x10.3 or 10.5 being a beadlock.
